The Merwin Conservancy is thrilled to announce that a database containing all Merwin Palm Collection data is now available online!

We thank the entire staff at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens, and Dr. John Dransfield, Royal Botanical Gardens Kew, who heroically completed The Conservancy’s project to identify, tag, catalogue and map The Merwin Palm Collection… turning this large and wild garden modeled on the rainforest into a true “living collection”.

All of the collected data and taxonomy information has been compiled by dedicated volunteers and supporters of the Conservancy, and we have created an online searchable database of our entire palm collection which is now accessible to scientists and palm enthusiasts worldwide.

The database is easy to find and access on our organization website. A permanent link called “The Palm Database” may be found under the “Programs” tab on the main website menu. Online users can now sort the collection by genus, species, common name, and place of origin, and a universal “search” option allows users to enter other types of information to locate the species and data they are looking for.

We are thrilled to share it with you, and we thank you for supporting us in our journey to make this important data accessible to the world. The database will continue to grow and be updated as the palms grow and as the collection expands. We welcome your donation to continue this important database project.

Happy searching!
